Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp celebrates

Ousmane Dembele has received an offer from Liverpool and is set to leave Barcelona this summer, according to reports in Spain.

The France international had been expected to leave the Camp Nou in the January transfer window with his contract expiring in the summer

However, he stayed and has been back in the starting XI under Xavi, contibuting eight assists and a goal in his last nine appearances for the Catalan giants.

Speculation is still mounting that he will leave in the summer transfer window after five injury-interrupted seasons at Barcelona – but Xavi admits he has been pleased with the winger recently.

The Barcelona boss said over the weekend: “I see him very happy, he’s very involved in the project since I arrived. I have no complaints about him.

“It’s a question for Ousmane to answer on his future, I’m clear on that.

“He’s making a real difference for us, he gives assists, and in our way of playing it’s very important because of how I want to play, as in one-on-ones he’s very good.”

Dembele was given a standing ovation at the Camp Nou in their 1-0 victory over Sevilla with the attacker looking like their most dangerous player.

But Spanish publication Nacional claims that Dembele is about to ‘betray’ Xavi and leave Barcelona this summer with Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain interested.

Xavi still has ‘hope’ that Dembele will stay despite rumours of a ‘pre-agreement with PSG’ and a ‘last-minute call’ from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to put their proposal on the table.

Dembele has been ‘more and more at ease with Xavi’ in recent weeks but it is his agent who ‘keeps urging him to leave Barcelona as soon as possible’.

The Frenchman ‘would be excited to try the Premier League’ with Liverpool making an ‘important offer’ with both the Reds and PSG now ‘waiting impatiently’ for an answer.

Meanwhile, Diogo Jota scored his 14th Premier League goal of the season in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Watford at Anfield and Klopp has been impressed by his development this term.

“Since he came in he improved a lot, that is a little to do with his age, (but) he is growing into the top world-class striker role step by step,” said Klopp.

“He is delivering for Portugal pretty consistently, which is a difficult job to do with all the offensive talent they have, so he is actually the player we thought he would be and also a little bit better.”
