Barcelona fail with late bid as Chelsea prepare for double exit

Chelsea are set to announce the double departure of Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi after Barcelona failed with a late bid for the former.
Abraham was linked with a move to Arsenal and West Ham before reports emerged last week that he was on the verge of a move to Serie A side Roma.
Sky Sports claim that Abraham has now completed a medical in Italy ahead of his move to Roma being confirmed.

The fee is believed to be in the region of £34m with Abraham ready to ‘sign a five-year contract worth £4m a year after tax’.
The England international was not a popular choice under Thomas Tuchel and, with Romelu Lukaku signing from Inter Milan, he was always likely to leave this summer.
Chelsea have apparently retained a buy-back clause of €80m in his contract which they can trigger in two years’ time.
Abraham is understood to have turned down a late effort by Barcelona to lure him to the Camp Nou but the Roma hierarchy were “impressed” that he rejected them.
“It got as far as he Barca manager, Ronald Koeman, ringing up Abraham to try to convince him to move to Barcelona,” Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol said.
“In the end he had spoken to Mourinho at Roma and met their general manager, and had been so impressed with what they had to say that he turned down Barca to sign for them.”
Meanwhile, The Sun claim that Batshuayi has landed in Istanbul for his medical ahead of completing a loan move to Besiktas.
There were pictures of him arriving at the airport in Istanbul where he was greeted by jubilant fans, while wearing a Besiktas scarf.

The Belgium international has ‘agreed an initial loan move’ despite other reports claiming he would join the Turkish club permanently.
Batshuayi has scored 25 goals in 77 matches for Chelsea since arriving at Stamford Bridge in 2016 from French outfit Marseille.
He has spent loan spells at Borussia Dortmund and Valencia, while he has spent the last season on loan at Crystal Palace, where he scored two goals in 20 matches.
