Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested in signing Matteo Guendouzi despite his poor performances for Arsenal, according to reports in France.
The French youngster escaped a Football Association charge despite putting his hands around Neal Maupay’s throat at the end of Arsenal’s defeat at Brighton, while there were reports that the midfielder ‘spent the game taunting Brighton players about the financial disparity between the squads’.
The Daily Mail claimed on Tuesday that “frustration is mounting” with Guendouzi and “[Mikel] Arteta’s patience is being tested” with a number of incidents on the player’s charge sheet.
Per the source, “some of his team-mates are also understood to have taken a dim view of some of his antics” and Arteta is mulling over the player’s future.
Guendouzi was dropped by Arteta against Newcastle earlier in the season with the Arsenal boss explaining the move as “tactical” as he instead went with Dani Ceballos in midfield.
According to The Telegraph, Guendouzi’s absence was the result of a bust-up between himself and Arteta during Arsenal’s warm-weather training camp in Dubai.
Despite all that, it seems Guendouzi could be rewarded with Le10Sport claiming that the 21-year-old ‘interests many clubs’ with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Leicester City all thought to be interested.
Leicester are ‘particularly attentive’ to Guendouzi, Real boss Zinedine Zidane ‘loves him very much’ while Barcelona are understood to be a fan of his ‘technical qualities’.
