The agent of Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele has “delayed” contract talks amid interest from Man Utd, Chelsea and Juventus, according to reports.
The forward came through the ranks at French side Rennes and he joined Borussia Dortmund in 2016.
Dembele grabbed six goals and twelve assists from his 32 appearances in the Bundesliga during the 2016/17 campaign.
This form tempted Barcelona to sign him in 2017 for a fee that could rise to around €145m with add-ons.
The Frenchman has been involved in 51 goals from his 118 appearances for the La Liga giants.
The 24-year-old has won two league titles with Barcelona and he has also helped them win the Copa del Rey twice.
Dembele’s current contract at Barcelona is set to expire in 2022. Spanish outlet Sport are reporting that the winger has told his agent that he intends to stay at the club.
His “absolute priority” is to continue. Despite this, “his agents have been delaying the process” due to interest from the likes of Man Utd, Chelsea and Juventus.
“I’ve heard some talk and the only way I can explain it, is it’s blasphemy, when I heard some people talking about Ronaldo’s the reason why Man United aren’t going to be a success,” Ferdinand said.
“Ronaldo turning up at Man United, and yeah it’s great. But he’s going to be the reason why they don’t do anything.
“Listen, I’ve been seeing too much of it, don’t talk like that. Please, it’s a disgrace. Absolute disrespect.
“A player that’s done what he’s done in the game, a superstar of any generation, he’ll be one of the best players in any generation you can think about, and even again he just told people at the weekend what he’s about here… pressure’s on [and] he scores.
“To think that because he doesn’t press, because he doesn’t run as much as other people… that’s not what he’s there for.
“You play to people’s strengths sometimes. You can do that when you’ve got a superstar in your team sometimes for certain clubs.”
