Barcelona are hoping to sell Phillippe Coutinho in January to ease their financial struggles, according to reports in Spain.

The Brazillian enjoyed a fantastic four and a half year spell with Liverpool between 2013 and 2018. In that time he was one of the leading players in the Premier League.

Coutinho made just over 200 appearances for Liverpool, as he scored 54 goals and notched 45 assists.

This form made him one of the most highly sought after players in Europe. In January 2018, Coutinho joined Barcelona for an initial fee of £105m, though the deal could have reached £142m with add-ons.

The playmaker has had a mixed time of it in Spain. He spent the entire 2019/20 campaign on loan with Bayern Munich.

He returned to Barcelona ahead of the new season. Coutinho has been a regular under Ronald Koeman at the start of this campaign. But his game time has decreased of late with him suffering a hamstring injury.

Spanish outlet Sport has reported that Barcelona are suffering from a lot of financial troubles. To ease these worries, their board are planning to sell one or two of their highest earners as part of their cost-cutting measures.

The report adds that they will look to sell Coutinho in January, who earns around £200,000 a week for the Spanish giants.

So with Spurs looking to recover, Leeds looking for satisfaction, Southampton looking to keep going and Arsenal looking for just literally anything, you could call this a Big Weekend.
