Michy Batshuayi has now hopped aboard the infernal striker merry-go-round that already hosts Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Olivier Giroud.
Aubameyang is a target for Arsenal, who have reportedly agreed a fee of around £55.4million to prise him from Borussia Dortmund.
That deal will only go ahead if Dortmund sign a replacement however, with Olivier Giroud having been their preference.
But Giroud is thought to be reluctant to uproot his family to move to Germany, and so Chelsea striker Batshuayi has been mooted.
In turn, Chelsea would look to replace Batshuayi with Giroud, having agreed a fee of £15m for the Frenchman, according to reports.
David Ornstein, an Arsenal ITK god among men, provided an update on Monday evening, but made no mention of said £15m agreement.
The BBC journalist did say that Batshuayi had already been somewhat involved in the three-way negotiations, with Chelsea looking to swap him for Fernando Llorente.
Tottenham wanted the deal to be permanent, while the Premier League champions preferred a loan swap. Any potential move broke down when Batshuayi rejected it out of hand however, as he was ‘unwilling’ to move clubs to be in the same position as a back-up striker.
Ornstein adds that Arsenal have agreed a fee and personal terms with Aubameyang, but the move is also dependent on Dortmund and Chelsea’s transfer business.
Merry-go-round: Giroud was lined up to replace Aubameyang at Dortmund then got offer from Chelsea & was keen, so Dortmund turned to Batshuayi. But Chelsea baulked at Giroud fee so discussed Batshuayi/Llorente swap with Spurs, which nobody agreed on. Deadlock #AFC #BVB #CFC THFC pic.twitter.com/HA6ymZ6IiN
