Batshuayi: Why I have been better at Dortmund than Chelsea

Matt Stead

Michy Batshuayi says he has thrived at Borussia Dortmund because he “immediately got love”.

Batshuayi joined the Bundesliga side on loan in January, and has scored eight goals in 11 games.

The striker netted 12 times in 26 games for Chelsea in the first half of the season, but failed to earn the trust of Antonio Conte.

He says his fine form in Germany has simply been down to being “warmly welcomed”.

“I hardly played at Chelsea, so it’s nice to be important again now,” he told HLN.

“Do you know what it is: I am just warmly welcomed at Dortmund – I immediately got love. Then you are automatically better.”

When asked whether he hoped to make his Dortmund move a permanent one, he replied: “I do not want to talk about that.

“And neither about Chelsea. Maybe later.”
