Bayern ‘confident’ of landing Harry Kane with improved €95m package for Tottenham forward
Bayern Munich are confident of striking a deal for Harry Kane as the German club are said to be preparing an offer of €95m to Tottenham.
The German club have been in talks with Tottenham for the past couple of weeks as they see Kane as a top target this summer.
It was previously reported that Bayern were still ‘significantly short’ of Tottenham’s asking price, but the German club seem to be growing in confidence.
Kane’s contract with Spurs expires in 2024 and so Bayern don’t want to overspend on a player they can theoretically sign for free next summer.
However, they want to finalise a deal for Kane as soon as possible and they are willing to make the 30-year-old their top earner.
According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern plan to make an improvement on their latest offer.
“Understand Bayern package is around €95m now – with possible add-ons included,” Plettenberg revealed on Twitter.
“Kane could get a contract until 2028 – with options included. No doubt, he would become the top earner of the club; he would replace Mane with it.
“No new meeting between Bayern and Levy scheduled yet. But: All parties are confident to find an agreement as Bayern plans to improve their offer.”
Ange Postecoglou will be keen to iron out the situation as soon as possible. Losing Kane will be a huge blow, but he won’t want this transfer speculation to overshadow the new campaign.
With just two weeks until the new Premier League season gets underway, Postecoglou is hoping for a solution as soon as possible.
“I think, for everyone concerned, we don’t want to be doing it for too long. I don’t think that is good for anyone,” Postecoglou told The Athletic.
“I don’t think it is good for Harry, I don’t think it is good for the club, because as laser focused as we want to be, you end up sort of repeating yourself along the way.
“But the flip side of that is I don’t want to put a deadline on it, because that adds even more pressure. You want these things to happen for the right reasons. The reality of it is he’s still a contracted player at our football club, so that’s the way I see him.”
