German giants Bayern Munich have been ‘offered’ the chance to sign Tottenham defender Eric Dier, according to reports in Germany.

Dier does not appear to be in Ange Postecoglou’s plans in north London. He is yet to be included in a single Premier League matchday squad.

This comes after a difficult 2022/23 campaign under Antonio Conte, who was relieved of his duties in March.

The 29-year-old has been a big player for Tottenham over the years and has accumulated 361 appearances across nine years at the club.

Dier’s time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium looks like it is coming to an end, however, with Postecoglou favouring Cristian Romero, Davinson Sanchez and summer signing Micky van de Ven in the heart of his defence.

The Australian manager favours a back four, which does not really suit Dier, whose best football in recent years has been played in a back five.

There are several players Postecoglou is looking to move on before Friday’s transfer deadline and Dier has been offered to Bayern.

This is according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, who says the England international has been ‘offered to Bayern again and again in the last days’.

While it looks like it is Spurs pushing for this transfer to happen, Plettenberg adds that it has been ‘discussed internally’ in Munich.

Dier’s ability to play in midfield and defence makes him an appealing signing for Thomas Tuchel, although Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah is also a target.

It is added that Southampton and Germany centre-back Armel Bella-Kotchap is a ‘back-up solution’ to the English pair.

Sky Sports in England adds that Borussia Dortmund are also interested in signing Dier from Spurs.

Should a move materialise, Dier would reunite with Harry Kane in Germany.

Neither player has won a trophy in their career and would surely end that wait at some point this season, with Bayern the strong favourites to win the Bundesliga once again.

Kane has scored three goals and provided one assist in his first two league appearances for the Bavarian outfit.
