Bayern Munich ‘seriously considering’ offer for Man City star who Tuchel really ‘appreciates’
Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Bayern Munich are considering a move for Kyle Walker as the Manchester City star weighs up his future at the Etihad.
Walker has won 14 trophies with Man City and has been a regular since his arrival from Tottenham in 2017.
Due to a change of system, Walker did spend a portion of the 2022-23 season watching from the sidelines and the latest reports have linked him with a move away.
The 33-year-old has been linked with hometown club Sheffield United, although some other suitors have now presented themselves.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich are considering moving for Walker this summer.
“It’s not yet decided if Bayern will make an official offer for Kyle Walker! But Bayern is seriously considering a transfer. Depends on Pavard now,” Plettenberg reported on Twitter.
“The 33 y/o is on the list of the bosses as revealed today. Tuchel appreciates the player and has contacted him!
“Walker, interesting for Bayern because of his experience and mentality. No contact with his management yet.”
Walker started in 22 Premier League matches for Man City this time around and played 1,957 minutes in the league.
Fabrizio Romano backed up Plettenberg’s claims and stated that Walker could be an option for the German champions.
“Kyle Walker, concrete target for Bayern as they keep looking for new right back after Joao Cancelo’s return to City.
“No decision made yet on official bid but Kyle’s being considered in internal talks.”
Along with having his admirers in Germany, Walker is also a player being looked at by clubs in Saudi Arabia.
His Man City teammate Riyad Mahrez is also wanted in Saudi Arabia and the pair could both make the switch this summer.
Pep Guardiola admitted earlier in the season that Walker doesn’t have the right skillset to play as an inverted full-back in his new system.
“He [Walker] cannot do it. To play inside you have to make some educated movements. He has other characteristics. He will always have pace. He will be the fastest in this room at 60 years old.
“It happens. Nobody has a guarantee with me. They have to earn it and sometimes we need a different shape for the way we build up or defend. Some players adapt better than the other ones. They take it personally but we are not against them.”
Walker is contracted with Man City until 2024 and so this could be Man City’s last chance to cash in on the England international.
