Thiago Alcantara is ready to leave Bayern Munich as he eyes one last big move with Liverpool interested, according to reports in Germany.
The Spaniard has started a majority of the German side’s matches this season, making 35 appearances in all competitions for Hans-Dieter Flick’s outfit.
Thiago has now been at Bayern Munich for seven years since making the move from Barcelona back in 2013 for a reported €25m and now a report is claiming he is looking for a new challenge.
Sport Bild (via German website Spox) claims that Thiago has made a contract ‘U-turn’ with the 29-year-old deciding ‘not to extend the contract in Munich and is about to say goodbye.’
Bayern have had a contract ready for Thiago – who was linked with a move to Man Utd in 2018 – to sign since May but the midfielder has ‘hesitated’ as he looks for one last big move.
Sources have learned that Liverpool are ‘interested in the central midfielder’ with Thago ‘obviously very popular’ with Jurgen Klopp.
Thiago is about to enter the final year of his contract but it is thought the Bundesliga club will still demand €50m (£45m) from Liverpool or any other suitors, with the Bavarians hoping they can use that money to buy Leroy Sane from City.
