Brighton defender Ben White says it is “nice” to be linked with a transfer to Arsenal but admits he doesn’t know “what’s true and what’s not”.

The Seagulls star has been in great form this season, making 36 Premier League appearances and attracting admiring glances.

Widespread reports on Thursday claimed that Arsenal had made a £50million offer for the England defender which Brighton had accepted.

However, The Argus quoted a well-placed source on Friday claiming those reports were ‘simply not true’ with the Seagulls happy to bide their time over any sale.

And White, who is currently on England duty at Euro 2020, admits it’s lovely to hear of interest from Arsenal but he’s unsure what to believe.

“It’s nice, it’s happened quite a lot over the last two years, there’s been a lot of noise,” White told talkSPORT.

When asked whether he speaks to his England or Arsenal team-mates about the transfer rumours, White replied: “Not really.

“You don’t know what’s true and what’s not. So there’s no real point talking about it.”

Meanwhile, Simon Jordan thinks White should wait for a “more compelling” transfer than a move to Arsenal

Jordan told talkSPORT: “Why would he want to go there?”

“With respect to Brighton it’s a step up but there may be other steps available to him that are far more compelling than Arsenal.

“If Ben White is now in the international squad and revered the way he is, because he’s a top quality player, why are Arsenal in the mix? Arsenal are all over the place.

“If you’re comparing and contrasting Brighton to Arsenal then yes it is a step up but if you’re comparing somebody who’s in the England squad that people in the game think is a Rolls Royce then what is the move he’s making to Arsenal for?”

On Mikel Arteta, Jordan added: “They are a long way from where they need to be and there’s a lot of people looking at Arteta, me included, who started out thinking this guy’s got the chops but are maybe thinking he’s all theory and not enough practice.”
