Besiktas confirm Everton’s striker hunt is finally over

Everton will sign Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun “by the weekend”.

Everton have sought Tosun’s signature since before the January transfer window opened, with a bid of £25million tabled.

Negotiations with Besiktas hit an obstacle earlier in the week however.

But the two clubs have now come to an agreement, with Sky Sports reporting a £27m fee is agreed.

And Besiktas president Fikret Orman has confirmed that the deal will be completed before next week.

“Our interests and the players interests are important,” Orman said. “Cenk wants to join Everton. We want to do our part and we are working on a replacement.

“The era of buy, buy, buy is over. This is the era of buy, add value and sell. A final deal has not been reached yet but we have an agreement over the price. The end is near. The transfer will be wrapped up by the weekend.”
