Blow for Spurs as Juventus boss Allegri makes Ramsey claim
Tottenham have suffered a setback in their pursuit of former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
The Welshman spent 11 years at Arsenal before leaving in July 2019 in search of a new challenge.
He eventually settled at Juventus, where he has won three trophies in total.

Ramsey appeared in 30 games for Juve last season as they won the Italian super cup, beating Napoli in the final.
Despite his success in Italy, the 30-year-old continues to be linked with a Premier League return.
Last week, reports stated that Tottenham were plotting a surprise bid, alongside Bruno Lage’s Wolves.
But Juve boss Max Allegri appears to have Ramsey firmly in his plans at the Allianz stadium.
When asked about a potential move for Miralem Pjanic, Allegri suggested that he wasn’t needed due to the form of Ramsey.
“The club takes care of the transfer market, we talk every day,” he said. “Ramsey played very, very well in front of the defence and I think in that role he can really become an important player.
“I salute Miralem, because we spent four years together with great victories. He is a Barcelona player now, we have talented players, and I think if Ramsey can be convinced to play in front of the defence, he can really do well there.
“He already can see passing channels, has a good sense of the geometry of the field and can also rest on the ball more than he does upfront.”
Ramsey is working hard in pre-season training to impress the 53-year-old Italian.
He will have to compete with Adrien Rabiot, Rodrigo Bentancur, Arthur and Weston McKennie for a place in the starting lineup.
Allegri’s comments seem to suggest that Ramsey will be staying in Turin beyond this summer.
Tottenham will now focus on their other transfer targets.
The main aim for sporting director Fabio Paratici at the moment is to bring a new central defender to north London.
They’ve become frustrated in their pursuit of Takehiro Tomiyasu of Bologna and are instead targeting Cristian Romero.
It’s thought that Spurs have had a £43m bid accepted by Atalanta.
