Wilfried Bony has confused the football world by revealing that he is indeed still employed by Manchester City.

Bony signed for City in January 2015 from Swansea, but he has played just 46 games for the club, scoring ten goals.

He spent the past season on loan at Stoke, but played just ten games and struggled to make an impact.

The Ivorian is not expected to become a key fixture of the City first team under Pep Guardiola, but he has stated that he wants to fight for his place at the Etihad Stadium.

“I love the club, the fans,” Bony told Sky Sports News HQ. “I want to show that Wilfried Bony is still the same player. I’ve been through a difficult time.

“Leading the goalscoring two years ago, it’s still me, nothing has changed, just a difficult time. I just want to show them I can do more than that so I just need to get myself ready.

“Manchester City have to decide how many players (they want).

“I’m a Manchester City player. I’m just getting myself ready for the pre-season on July 10.”
