Boro target Espinosa ‘moving to the Premier League’
Reported Middlesbrough target Bernardo Espinosa will leave Sporting Gijon and move to the Premier League, according to the player.
The Colombian has also been linked with Bournemouth and Watford, but Middlesbrough are thought to be in advanced talks with the defender.
The 26-year-old has confirmed that he rejected a new deal at Gijon in favour of a move to England.
“My decision is not to continue,” Espinosa said in a press conference.
“I wanted to wait until my body, my mind and my soul were ready. It’s been a very difficult decision.
“(Moving to England) is a personal adventure. I’ve always wanted to play there. But Real Sporting has been in my head until the last second.
“I just want to say thank you to the club due to their efforts trying to convince me to stay here.
“I’m going to the Premier League.”
