Liverpool-linked Jude Bellingham shouts instructions at his team-mates

Borussia Dortmund are looking to tie Jude Bellingham down to a new deal as they fear Liverpool could come knocking this summer, according to reports.

Bellingham has starred for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and Champions League, with four goals and nine assists, and has been linked with a move back to England.

The former Birmingham City man has also broke into the England senior set-up and has made ten appearances for Gareth Southgate’s side.

Gossip: AC Milan look to hijack transfer as Liverpool hold ‘new talks’

Liverpool have been one of the clubs most heavily linked with a move for the 18-year-old as they look to strengthen their midfield ranks after the departure of Gini Wijnaldum to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

And now Football Insider claims that Dortmund are ‘advancing talks over a new contract’ for Bellingham ‘amid fears Liverpool are lining up a mega summer swoop’.

Bellingham is ‘on their target list’ as they look to bring in a new central midfielder in the summer transfer window with Dortmund ‘stepping up plans to secure Bellingham to a new contract and want a deal in place ahead of the summer’.

A source in Germany told Football Insider ‘we are worried about Liverpool’ – who strengthened their side in January with a move for Porto winger Luis Diaz – over their interest in Bellingham.

And now Dortmund are eyeing a ‘potential double deal’ with the Bundesliga side looking to bring Bellingham’s younger brother, Jobe, to Signal Iduna Park, which would ‘sweeten the deal’ for Jude.

Jobe, who made his debut for Birmingham City last month, is viewed as a ‘major talent’ by Dortmund, who ‘believe that signing him would convince Jude to stay’.

Former Premier League striker Kevin Phillips said recently that Bellingham “fits the mould” at Liverpool.

“Milner and Henderson will be another year older so I think it’s vital they get another midfielder in,” Phillips told Football Insider.

“There’s been a lot of talk about Jude Bellingham. He is someone who could be the long-term future of that midfield. He could be one that comes in.

“Milner has been an incredible servant but his time will come eventually. For a club of Liverpool’s size and the position they are in, they need a world-class centre-midfielder.

“Jude Bellingham is one player who certainly fits the mould. It’s an area they need to address in the summer, 100 per cent, and I think they will.”
