Bumper gossip: Bale, Alli, Coutinho, Welbeck…

We’re not sure there is an awful lot that is new in the ‘Gareth Bale EXCLUSIVE’ being claimed by the Sunday Express. They say that Chelsea have ’emerged as serious contenders’ but we were told that earlier this week by Marca, among others.

Here are the latest claims from Neil Fissler, the rugby writer who is a massive fan of a football EXCLUSIVE: ‘Real president Florentino Perez is believed to be willing to do business on Bale, 28, for around £90million which would pay a large chunk of the fee for Mbappe.’

Well, we did say that Chelsea need cover at wing-back.

We were discussing this in the office only the other day so we are not buying the Sunday People’s claim that
‘Everton eye shock £30m Danny Welbeck swoop’. Shock? It’s a bloody no-brainer. Everton need a striker and Arsenal have too many of them. Though Arsenal agreeing to sell anybody would be a bloody miracle.

They say: ‘Welbeck would command a price tag of £30m in today’s market and has links to the Merseysiders through former Old Trafford team-mate Rooney.’

Yes, but will Arsene Wenger sell one of his boys? Arsenal are not Chelsea, you know.

And here is rugby writer Neil Fissler again, with another football EXCLUSIVE. After telling us what we already knew about Chelsea and Gareth Bale, he is back in the Sunday Express to tell us what we already know about Barcelona and Dele Alli, though he is pretending that we know nothing at all.

Apparently, ‘TOTTENHAM are bracing themselves for a shock move from Barcelona for England midfielder Dele Alli’. Quite why they would be shocked when it was discussed earlier in the week is a mystery.

And now Fissler tells us: ‘Alli is one of the names on the Barca shopping list for next season with the Neymar cash they deposited in their bank account last Thursday.’

The Daily Star on Sunday have their own ‘exclusive’, that Barcelona really want Philippe Coutinho. Because we have absolutely never heard that before.

According to them: ‘Kop boss Jurgen Klopp insists Coutinho, 25, is not for sale. But Barca are ready to test that stance with a record offer to a British club of up to £120m.’

That’s quite a lot of money. It would certainly buy a defender or four.
