Brighton’s Yves Bissouma would be the “ideal partner” for Arsenal star Thomas Partey in the Gunners’ midfield, according to Kevin Campbell.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has already secured the signings of Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga, Benfica left-back Nuno Tavares and Brighton defender Ben White for a combined total of £77m this summer.

The Spaniard is unlikely to stop there and is looking to bring in more ‘significant’ signings this summer with reports today they are looking into the possibility of bringing Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez to the Emirates Stadium.

Brighton midfielder Bissouma has been linked with the Gunners and former Arsenal striker Campbell thinks he would be the perfect partner for Partey.

“Bissouma, for me, he is the ideal partner in there for Thomas Partey,” Campbell told Highbury Squad.

“He is combative, he is a lot better on the ball than people give him credit for, the kid can play.

“He is young, he knows the Premier League, he is tough, he tracks back, he puts the tackles in, he is box-to-box. If you need him to, he can hold. That’s my guy.”

Meanwhile, former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara reckons Manchester United are “shopping in a different window” than Arsenal after the Gunners completed the signing of White on Friday.

O’Hara told talkSPORT: “He’s not unproven, he’s been playing in the Premier League. He’s played for England.

“He’s not Varane, but Arsenal are shopping in a different market.

“You have to pay a premium for an English player, he’s a lot younger and Manchester United can attract players like Varane.

“They are in the Champions League and Manchester United are shopping in a different window.

“They can probably give him more money, more wages and can probably attract a player for a little bit less and pay a lower fee because they can go for that type of player.

“Arsenal would love to have Varane in their side and love to pay £42million for him. Varane is not going to go there, so they aren’t shopping in that window.

“They can’t attract a Varane right now. They can attract a Ben White, who is an up-and-coming talent, and you have to pay a premium for him, but you are getting a very good player.

“They are putting a squad together that is a very young and exciting squad. I have to say, I’ve been impressed with what they have done so far.”
