Emre Can has insisted that his Liverpool contract stand-off “is not about money”.
Can is out of contract with Liverpool in the summer, and is no closer to extending his deal with the club.
The midfielder has been linked with moves to Juventus and Bayern Munich as a result of the stalled negotiations, and can enter a pre-contract with any European club from January.
The 23-year-old has offered no clue as to what the issue is however, simply stating it is “not about money”.
Asked by the Liverpool Echo whether he will still be with the club next season, Can replied: “Why do you ask me this? Really, I concentrate on this season and let my agent handle all the rest.
“It is not about money, that’s all I can say. Yes I could (sign a pre-contract with another club next month), but tomorrow I could also sign for Liverpool. We’ll see.”
