Can: What Klopp has told players about recent setbacks

Emre Can has explained what Jurgen Klopp has told his Liverpool players about their recent setbacks.

The Reds have stuttered this past month after a promising start on the domestic and European front.

They have won one of their last seven games in all competitions, and have drawn both their Champions League group games.

They are also already seven points behind Premier League joint leaders Manchester City and Manchester United, the latter of whom they face on Saturday in a game we have previewed right here.

Can accepts that he and his teammates have struggled defensively in recent games, but says that Klopp has placed it all down to “luck”.

“It’s definitely a fact that we have recently defended badly and conceded too many goals,” he told SportBild. “But I still believe that when we scored goals, we won the games. Then nobody was speaking about the defence.”

Asked what Klopp’s reaction has been internally, Can replied: “The coach himself says we didn’t play badly.

“We almost dominated the opponents in all games and were the better team. Jurgen Klopp is convinced that only the necessary luck is missing to return to winning.

“At Liverpool, however, nobody questions the coach. Jurgen Klopp is a top, top trainer.”
