Ex-England international hits out at Keane over Villa criticism
Former England international Carlton Palmer has questioned if Roy Keane is “for real” after the ex-Man Utd captain criticised Aston Villa’s Premier League survival celebrations.
Villa held West Ham to a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium on Sunday, which was enough to secure their participation in the Premier League next season.
Relegation rivals Watford lost at Arsenal 3-2, while Bournemouth beat Everton 3-1 – but it wasn’t enough as Villa survived by the skin of their teeth and celebrations followed.

“That’s why they never win anything,” Keane said on Sky Sports.
“Listen I’m delighted for Dean Smith, he made a good point – there were big changes at the club last summer.
“It was going to take time, they’ve stayed up [and it’s] a big achievement.
“The celebrations are slightly over the top, but good luck to them.”
Palmer tweeted in response: “Is Roy Keane for real, Aston Villa Dean Smith celebrate like you have won the Champions League.
“Promotion last season lost his father to covid they were seven points from safety. Survived on the last day of the season that is cause for one big party in my book.”
