Carragher calls out Neville’s Man Utd contradiction over Conte, Mourinho – ‘you wouldn’t listen!’

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have butted heads over social media when discussing the Man Utd legend’s thoughts on Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho.
The two Sky Sports pundits have been quick to hit out at Conte, who blasted his Tottenham players following their 3-3 draw against Southampton on Saturday.
The Italian head coach claimed that his Spurs squad are “not a team” and he accused his players of being “selfish”.
In response to this outburst, Carragher tweeted: “Conte wants to be sacked in this international break. Spurs should just put him out of his misery and do it tonight.”
Neville meanwhile called on Spurs to “keep Conte right where he is and make him do his job”.
Conte is out of contract at the end of this season. Tottenham have the option to extend his deal by a further year but it is expected that the manager and club will go their separate ways in the summer.
Spurs are currently fourth in the Premier League but Newcastle are just two points adrift of them with two games in hand. This is while Liverpool are six points shy of Tottenham with two games in hand.
Man Utd are a place above Spurs in third and they are enjoying a successful season with Erik ten Hag at the helm. Neville infamously warned United against bringing Conte in prior to the Dutchman’s arrival in the summer.
When asked if he remembered his debate with his Sky Sports colleagues over Conte not suiting Man Utd, Neville answered: “Oh I do I do.”
Carragher then pointed out that Neville initially wanted Man Utd to appoint Mauricio Pochettino instead of Ten Hag: “Yes you’d rather have kept that serial winner Ole! Then you wanted Poch not ETH, I told you ETH was the better choice but you wouldn’t listen.”
Neville replied: “Oh but we would have had what you and loads of United fans wanted. By the way, ETH is fantastic but Poch is a great manager and would have been a lot better for United than your choice!!!”
The Man Utd legend doubled down when asked about his stance by a fan over Twitter: “Either were good fits. Conte was never a fit for United.”
Carragher then asked Neville why he opted to back the appointment of Jose Mourinho when he joined Man Utd.
“So why did you champion the appointment of Jose and argue he wasn’t supported after spending 100’s millions & attacking the club?? They are exactly the same type of managers!”
Neville responded: “And after that experience, I didn’t want to go there again! Even though he won trophies!! You did. For the worst United takes we need to look at yours on Rashford, Martinez and Conte!!”
