Jamie Carragher has named who he believes is “the best player in the Premier League”.
While Mohamed Salah won the Premier League Player of the Year award last season, the Liverpool forward has started this campaign relatively slowly.
Kevin de Bruyne was also in phenomenal form before being pipped to the gong, and has already missed most of this season through injury.
Carragher named the player he believes will dethrone Salah last month, but has changed his opinion with five games of the campaign gone.
He believes current top goalscorer Eden Hazard, starring for current league leaders Chelsea, is unrivalled.
“I think Hazard is the best player in the Premier League,” he told Sky Sports.
“What I mean by that is, De Bruyne and Salah were the best players last season. I’m talking over a four or five-year period if I think ‘who’s the man?’.
“I do, I think he’s fantastic. I think he was the best player at the World Cup. I think he should have won player of the tournament.
“The great thing that I love and say about every top attacking player is they can’t be bullied, they can’t be knocked off the ball.
“Me as a defender thinks ‘can I get at him? Can I wind him up? Can I do this? Can I do that?’.
“No, he’s too strong.”
