Santi Cazorla has suffered another setback in his return from injury for Arsenal.

Cazorla has not featured for the Gunners since October 2016, when he picked up an Achilles injury against Ludogorets in the Champions League.

The Spaniard was only expected to miss around three months, but a number of complications have delayed his return.

The midfielder confirmed that he almost had to have his foot amputated as a result of the latest issue, and Arsene Wenger has described it as “the worst injury I’ve ever known”.

Cazorla has taken to Twitter to reveal that he has undergone another surgery.

‘Due to some discomfort in the tendon that had dragged over the last few days, I have had to undergo surgery,’ he wrote.

‘It is delaying the date of return to the playing fields. I maintain the enthusiasm and motivation to enjoy my great passion, soccer.’

All we want for Christmas is Santi to play again.
