Chelsea are doing all they can to sign a new midfielder and they have reportedly ‘reached a total agreement’ with Juventus to sign Denis Zakaria on loan.

New Blues owner Todd Boehly has resembled a deer in the headlights this summer.

Credit to him though, he has not been shy to splash the cash in his first transfer window as the owner of Chelsea.

£240m has already been spent to sign the likes of Raheem Sterling, Marc Cucurella, Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana.

They would have spent a whole lot more had they got their wish to sign Anthony Gordon and Josko Gvardiol as well.

They do still look set to sign two more players, as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is well-set to return to the Premier League from FC Barcelona.

The ex-Arsenal captain will move to Chelsea in a cash-plus-player deal involving long-term Barcelona target Marcos Alonso.

Amid Chelsea’s difficult start to the 2022/23 campaign, they remain in the market for a new centre-midfielder.

Ibrahim Sangare was one of the names on their list. Man Utd were linked with him earlier this summer but Chelsea moved to sign him after PSV exited the Champions League.

But with the transfer window in the Netherlands already closed, it has been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano that Chelsea’s deal for Sangare is now ‘off’.

Another midfielder they have targeted is Edson Alvarez from Ajax. It was reported on Wednesday night that the Blues had submitted a €50m offer to sign him.

The Mexico international is even said to have missed training on Thursday morning as he looked to push through his exit.

Ajax are not keen to let him go though and this is fair enough as Antony, Lisandro Martinez, Ryan Gravenberch and Sebastien Haller have already departed.

Chelsea have not been deterred though as they have now ‘agreed’ to sign Zakaria on loan from Juventus. This was first revealed by Romano.

The 25-year-old is said to have rejected Man Utd to sign for Juventus at the start of this year.

The player’s ‘medical is ongoing in Italy’. Romano has also confirmed that ‘personal terms are approved’ and that Chelsea will have an option to buy him next summer.
