Chelsea are reportedly growing ‘increasingly confident’ about signing Serie A starlet Cesare Casadei before the transfer window closes.

The Blues have been among the biggest spenders in Europe during this summer’s transfer window.

Over £160m has been spent to bring in the likes of Marc Cucurella, Kalidou Koulibaly and Raheem Sterling for significant fees.

Thomas Tuchel and his tactics transcend the obvious faults in this Chelsea squad

All three players started against Tottenham over the weekend as Chelsea were unfortunate not to pick up all three points.

Thomas Tuchel is also looking to the future as he has brought in two 18-year-olds in Carney Chukwuemeka and Gabriel Slonina from Aston Villa and Chicago Fire.

Chelsea are now looking to seal a deal for Inter Milan centre-midfielder Casadei.

The 19-year-old is yet to make his senior debut for the Italian giants but his reputation has grown after shining for them at youth level.

The Blues have seen enough from Casadei that they want to bring him in this summer. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the youngster’s move to Chelsea is ‘edging closer’.

The player will pen a six-year deal as personal terms have been agreed with switches to Nice and Sassuolo now off the table.

Inter Milan are understood to be holding out for €15m plus add-ons, with Chelsea now feeling that the transfer is very likely to be completed.

While Chelsea have been busy bringing players in, plenty have exited the club this summer. Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are their high-profile departures.

Another player edging towards an exit is full-back Emerson. Tuchel has consistently praised the Brazilian for his attitude, but he has not been able to hold down a regular place in Chelsea’s first team.

With Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso previously being ahead of him in the pecking order, Emerson has only played 33 times in the Premier League since 2018.

The 28-year-old spent the whole of last season with Ligue 1 outfit Lyon. He looks set to leave this summer with Cucurella’s arrival leaving him even further down the pecking order.

According to Romano, West Ham have emerged as a potential destination for Emerson after Chelsea ‘turned down a loan offer’ from Nice.

The Hammers are ‘interested’ and the player would be ‘open’ to a move to the London Stadium.

The problem is that Chelsea ‘want more than the £10m the Hammers are willing to offer’ with Emerson’s contract not due to expire until 2024.
