Chelsea are reportedly the club ‘most interested’ in signing Juventus star Federico Chiesa, who has also been linked with Liverpool and Newcastle.

Ex-Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has joined Chelsea ahead of next season and he has a major job on his hands at Stamford Bridge after they finished 12th in the Premier League last term.

Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku have joined the Blues ahead of the 2023/24 campaign and they are being linked with several more attackers, which is understandable after they only scored 38 Premier League goals last season.

Spanish outlet Fichajes are claiming that Chelsea are ‘stepping on the accelerator’ for Juventus winger Chiesa.

The Italy international shone for his country as they won the European Championships in 2021 but he is going through a difficult spell at Juventus. He was out of action for most of last year due to injury and he was unable to make a significant impact for the Serie A giants during the final few months of the 2022/23 campaign.

This has fuelled reports linking him with a move to the Premier League, with Liverpool and Newcastle both being mentioned as potential destinations for the £38m-rated forward.

But Fichajes reckon Chelsea are currently the team ‘most interested’ in signing Chiesa this summer. Pochettino is said to be the ‘main supporter’ of his potential arrival at Stamford Bridge.

A separate report from Fichajes mentions Montpellier’s Elye Wahi as another potential signing for Chelsea ahead of next season.

The Blues are ‘expected to make an offer’ for the striker, who scored 19 goals for the French outfit in Ligue 1 last season.

They claim Chelsea ‘face competition’ from Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt and Wahi has already ‘turned down’ Bournemouth, Union Berlin and Lazio.

Montpellier are demanding up to 35 million euros (£30m) for the 20-year-old, who is under contract until 2025.

The report adds: ‘Chelsea’s interest in Elye Wahi shows the club’s ambition to secure the signing of young talent. Fans will be keeping an eye on the ongoing negotiations and any future developments surrounding this signing.

‘Competition for the player is on and Chelsea are expected to do everything they can to secure the services of this up-and-coming French pearl.’

Earlier this summer, Pochettino ruled out a move for Tottenham’s Harry Kane but he admitted that they are “going to add players” who can score.

“I saw him when he was young and grow up and achieve all that he was achieving. We have a great relationship.

“At the moment, we are thinking (in the transfer market) in a different way. We are not thinking that. We’re working hard to try to provide the squad with good quality.

“We are working on that and still we have time to work. For sure we are going to add players that can score and we are going to find the best way to play.”
