Chelsea ‘not convinced’ by Felix but will give Atletico €70m + Cucurella before selling to Real
Chelsea are ‘not entirely convinced’ by January signing Joao Felix, who is attracting interest from Real Madrid, according to a report.
Felix joined the Blues on loan from Atletico Madrid during the winter transfer window, with the Premier League club paying a loan fee in the region of £11million.
This was seen at the time as an extortionate fee to pay for a player they will only have for six months, and the deal became even more bemusing when the player was sent off on his debut and suspended for three games as a result.
With the Champions League yet to return and Chelsea out of both domestic cup competitions, Felix did not play a game for nearly an entire month after his debut disappointment.
When available, the Portuguese international has often displayed his incredible technical ability, but he has lacked a cutting edge in the final third.
Chelsea have been very poor in front of goal this term thanks to their lack of an out-and-out striker.
Felix is one of those players who doesn’t really have a set position on the pitch and likes to navigate all over the place, which is clearly not what the Blues need at this moment in time.
Despite the fact Todd Boehly has spent £600m in two transfer windows at Stamford Bridge, he is expected to bring in a new No. 9 at the end of the season.
The Premier League club have been linked with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen – who is also a top target for Manchester United.
They do have a huge decision to make regarding Felix, however.
And a report from Todo Fichajes has made the extremely bizarre claim that he will be signed permanently despite the fact Chelsea are ‘not entirely convinced’ by the 23-year-old.
It is claimed that Real Madrid are interested in signing Felix, but Atletico Madrid will not want to sell to their city rivals.
So, Real president Florentino Perez will ‘use’ Chelsea to ‘obtain’ the Portuguese attacker.
The masterplan is for the Blues to sign Felix for €70m, plus a player, before selling him to Madrid for a price ‘more adjusted to the reality of the market’ and not the €100m Atletico want.
The only Chelsea player mentioned is left-back Marc Cucurella, though they will give Atletico ‘whoever they deem appropriate’.
This is apparently ‘an attractive option for all parties’. Who wants to tell them?
