Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is desperate to land Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

The England international has become one of the most talked about potential transfers over the past 12 months after impressing for Dortmund.

At only 19 years of age Bellingham has become one of the best midfielders in Europe and his brilliant displays for both club and country have attracted interest from numerous clubs.

A queue is forming for the former Birmingham City youngster with Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona and others all linked at some point.

Bellingham has elevated his reputation further at the World Cup with a couple of brilliant displays for Gareth Southgate’s side, becoming a regular for the Three Lions.

It is still unclear what the future holds for Bellingham but The Sun claim that Chelsea owner Boehly is ‘obsessed’ with the Dortmund midfielder.

There is ‘intense competition for his signature’ but Boehly is ‘open to another big spend next summer’ with Bellingham ‘top of his list’.

Boehly is ‘driving the interest’ in Bellingham with midfield proving to be ‘a problem’ area for Chelsea boss Graham Potter.

Despite the Chelsea owner’s obsession over Bellingham, Potter still sees a new striker as a ‘top priority’ for the summer transfer window with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang not yet having the desired impact.

Despite Manchester United being linked heavily with Bellingham, former defender Rio Ferdinand is struggling to see the Dortmund midfielder choosing a transfer to Old Trafford.

Asked whether Man United have a chance of signing him, Ferdinand told his Vibe with Five YouTube channel: “No, I actually think if you put yourself in Jude Bellingham’s shoes right now you have for instance, [Manchester] City are going to be in for him. Real Madrid are going to be in for him, Barca are going to be in for him, Bayern will probably go in for him.

“There’s too much work to be done at United, It is whether he thinks ‘you know what, I can be the catalyst to pull this club where it should be’ that is the only way he goes.

“If he thinks he can be that guy than Man United is the club for him but I don’t see him taking that decision.”

On Bellingham’s performances for England, Ferdinand added: “A lot of the time we see the football player and we say ‘what a player blah blah blah’ but you’re not sure what’s going to happen off the pitch because they’re young and they can make mistakes and there is an element of being naive in certain situations.

“This kid, in the way he carries and presents himself, could be captain now.”
