Chelsea’s summer transfer plans have already suffered a setback due to the uncertainty surrounding Antonio Conte.
The Blues had hoped to put initial plans together with regards to their main targets before the end of the season, but ‘informal discussions’ with players have been given a worrying response.
The Daily Mail report that some of the club’s ‘primary targets’ would rather wait to see whether Conte will still be in charge next season, and who will replace him if not.
Sami Mokbel says that Chelsea ‘are in danger’ of losing out on some of their key targets if they do not ‘resolve’ their managerial situation.
Conte has refused to discuss his future at Stamford Bridge, but has clashed with the club’s hierarchy this season and has just one year remaining on his current contract.
That the summer transfer window closes before the end of the season also complicates matters, as does the World Cup.
Jean-Micheal Seri is one of the players Chelsea are targeting, and ‘it remains to be seen’ whether he will agree to join the club regardless of Conte’s fate.
