Chelsea want to ‘avoid problems’ with player – contract talks ‘planned’
According to reports, Chelsea are planning to “open talks” with Mason Mount regarding a new contract over the next couple of months.
Following a spell at Derby County, Mount became a regular for Chelsea at the start of the 2019/20 campaign.
The Englishman has been an integral player for the Blues over the past couple of years. He has now played just short of 150 times for his boyhood club.

In 2019, Mount penned a five-year contract to remain at Chelsea until the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cezar Azpilicueta are out of contract this summer and they have been linked with moves elsewhere.
Chelsea are keen to “avoid problems” with Mount, according to respected journalist Fabrizio Romano.
He has revealed that the Blues are “planning to open talks” with the midfielder over a new contract.

Elsewhere, Rio Ferdinand reckons Cristiano Ronaldo gives Man Utd “a chance” of winning the Champions League this season despite some recent poor performances.
Ferdinand said on BT Sport: “In this competition, you can not bet against him [Ronaldo] coming up trumps because he is the king of this competition in terms of goals and deciding big fixtures,” Ferdinand said.
“So, with him in the team, you’re always going to be in with a chance.”
Chelsea overcame Man City in the final last season to lift the Champions League for the second time in their history. They added the Club World Cup to their trophy cabinet this season.
Speaking about Chelsea, Ferdinand added: “I think they’re the third of the teams capable of winning it.
“The two other English teams Liverpool and City will be ahead of them. I think they will be there or thereabouts with someone like a Bayern Munich.
“Listen, you have to understand that these guys have the experience and that counts for a lot.
“On that night, they have the experience, the know-how, they have players there that are good ages. Plus a manager there again who’s growing in stature.
“They’ll be a threat. Listen, with that experience and being the holders, drawing them you’ll be saying, “it’s not going to be easy.” They won’t make it easy for anybody no matter what.”
