Club Brugge star backed to ‘play immediately’ at Chelsea
Club Brugge star Charles De Ketelaere would “play immediately” under Thomas Tuchel were he to move to Chelsea, according to a former ‘top scout’.
The 20-year-old was promoted to the Club Brugge first team in 2019 and has been used primarily as a striker, but can operate in a number of forward positions.

He has seven goals and six assists in 25 games this term and according to Paul Courant, a former player and a ‘top scout’ for Club Brugge, De Ketelaere has the versatility and quality to thrive under Tuchel at Chelsea.
Courant told Het Laatste Nieuws (via Sport Witness): “I’m going to tell you [how high he rates De Ketelaere] right away; very high. Put Charles at Chelsea tomorrow and he will play immediately. Especially, under that trainer [Tuchel] – I know that club and the vision of their coach a little bit,” he said.
“Charles no longer needs a refresher course. He is already a modern footballer – physically, technically and mentally.
“The next step for Charles should be as high as possible. He does not first have to pass a few smaller European clubs. Just because everything is already very well put together with him.
“You know, if Charles would have grown up in Munich, he would now be playing for Bayern. I may be very euphoric, but it is true. I’m glad there’s someone like that walking around in Belgium.”
Meanwhile, Roman Abramovich has offered an ‘irrefutable contract’ to Barcelona star Ronald Araujo to be Antonio Rudiger’s replacement at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have issues with their current crop of defenders, with Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta all out of contract in the summer.
And while the Blues are hoping to tie some of them down to new deals, the report claims Araujo is being lined up as a replacement for Rudiger, whom they are ‘resigned’ to losing.
And former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell – who was a pundit on La Liga TV last season – reckons Araujo would be a great signing for any Premier League side, but specifically Liverpool.
Campbell said: “Araujo is a top young player. He is physical, young and improving all the time.
“He would be a signing that will future-proof the club. In Araujo you have a player for now and the future.
“I think he’d be a great signing for Liverpool. I’m sure there will be a number of clubs interested in him though because he is a good young player. It’s one to keep an eye on.”
