Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole thinks Manchester United will finish higher than Arsenal in the Premier League this season.

Despite losses against summer of the better clubs this season – including Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea – the Gunners have fared fairly well against the sides down the rest of the table.

Arsenal beat London rivals West Ham 2-0 earlier this week to move into fourth position in the Premier League table.

Will McKenna’s Manchester United to Ipswich gamble pay off?

Man Utd have won their last three Premier League matches and would go above Arsenal if they won their game in hand after their recent match against Brentford was called off.

And Cole fully expects the Red Devils to finish above Arsenal come the end of the season as they have Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks.

Cole said on BT Sport: “There’s so much to be positive about the goalkeeper is outstanding. Gabriel and White have got it together, they’ve really nailed it.

“Then you’ve got the young lads. I think they’ll be there, or thereabouts. But if you ask me I think it’s going to be between Manchester United, Tottenham, West Ham and Arsenal.

“And I’d probably just go with United because of the Ronaldo factor because he’s such a genius and he guarantees you goals. He always turns up.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed on Friday that he is not yet ready to bring back former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang into the team.

Aubameyang has been stripped of the armband and left out of the last two Premier League games, the club having taken stern disciplinary action after the Gabon forward reportedly returned late from a trip abroad to visit his ill mother.

Alexandre Lacazette captained the side as the Gunners beat West Ham on Wednesday night to move back up into the top four.

Arteta confirmed Aubameyang would also not be considered for Saturday’s trip to Leeds as speculation continues over whether the 32-year-old has played his last game for the club.

“For this game, he is not available for selection,” the Arsenal boss said.

Asked what Aubameyang needed to do to get back into contention, Arteta added: “He is not available for the Leeds game, and this is the situation right now.”
