Conte apologises for showing his ‘disappointment’ after Burnley defeat

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has apologised for letting his emotions get the better of him after their defeat at Burnley on Wednesday.
After Ben Mee’s header gave Burnley a vital win over Spurs, Conte was particularly downbeat after the game when speaking to the media, appearing to questions whether he was the right man for the job or not.

However, speaking ahead of their trip to Leeds on Saturday, Conte admitted his emotions were running high, before apologising for his words.
“When I lose a game I’m not the person to go and have dinner, you understand? I’m not the right person. When I lose the game my mood is very bad. I prefer to stay alone and metabolise the defeat. I need one day to recover at least.
“My mentality is to prepare myself, to prepare the players and to avoid this type of situation. There are many coaches that don’t suffer. I wanted to be a little soft but at the same time to be this way makes me a person that in (my) career I won as a player and then as a coach.

“For sure when I lose, if you expect that I am happy or to come to a press conference and laugh, I am not this person. I am sorry if I show my disappointment because maybe it would be good to keep this inside and not show.”
The Italian also revealed that the club were happy with the job he has done since joining the north-London side.
“The club is the first to know our real situation. The club is very happy about my work, about what we are doing, my staff, the change we brought in these four months at the training ground.”
Conte also provided an update on the availability of two midfielders, Rodrigo Bentancur and Oliver Skipp, ahead of the trip to Elland Road.
On Uruguayan midfielder Bentarcur: “I don’t think this is a serious problem, I hope to see him in the team very, very soon.”
On Skipp, Conte added: “This is another problem. I hope the medical department helps me.”
