Antonio Conte has implored his player to be “focused on the present” amid rumours that Barcelona want to sign Victor Moses.

Moses has been one of the main success stories of an excellent start to the season for Chelsea, with the Nigerian slotting in seamlessly at right wing-back in Conte’s new system.

The 25-year-old joined the club in 2012, but was loaned out in successive seasons to Liverpool, Stoke and West Ham.

But he has taken his opportunity to impress Conte this season and has become a regular starter for the Premier League leaders.

He has even impressed sufficiently to earn admiring glances from Barcelona, according to Spanish newspaper Sport, who claim that the La Liga giants have scouted Moses in a number of games this season.

But Conte insists that his players are not looking too far into the future.

“About Victor, I repeat, it’s important to be focused on the present,” Conte told a news conference. “It’s important to be focused game by game. Now we are doing very well. But, for me, I don’t want to think that my players see ‘so long’ [into the future].

“I like to think my players are focused on the present, not the future so long-term. We have just started in this league and, after a period, two bad defeats, we won six games in a row. This is important, now, to continue this, to be focused, to work for the present. Not to look at the future.”
