Gossip: Rooney, Spurs striker, Mahmoud Dahoud

A ROONEY/CHINA UPDATE
‘Manchester United could still sell Wayne Rooney before the close of the Chinese Super League transfer window this month,’ is the opening line from James Ducker in the Daily Telegraph and he is right; they could. But will they? It seems highly unlikely with United still in four competitions. Even with Rooney being this current Rooney, he is a useful option.

So why would they sell? Well, they might if Rooney ‘proves receptive to a move over the next 10 days’. Ducker is not claiming that either United want to sell or Rooney wants to leave, so what he is basically saying is that Chinese clubs want him, he could earn ridiculous money and that the transfer window closes at the end of February, all of which we already knew.

SPURS TO SIGN NEW STRIKER
Well, this is a no-brainer. They have not scored a single goal in open play in their last four games so they really should be in the market for a new striker. When Harry Kane goes through a bad patch, Vincent Janssen does a pretty pathetic job of replacing him.

‘Spurs are reviewing their squad and drawing up transfer plans for the summer – and as it stands, another striker is set to be on their shopping list following Janssen’s failure to prove he can be an able deputy to Harry Kane,’ say the Daily Mirror.

It would be a bigger story if they thought that everything was hunky-dory.

CHELSEA WANT DAHOUD NOW
Liverpool have long been linked with  Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud but now The Guardian claim that Chelsea are interested, along with Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus. There are strong reports in Germany that he has already agreed to join Dortmund in the summer but The Guardian claim that the German’s representatives have talked to the Blues and other big European clubs.

‘Antonio Conte’s side have been in the market for a box-to-box midfielder for several months and made enquiries about Atalanta’s Ivorian international Franck Kessié in January,’ says the report.
