Philippe Coutinho is ready to “defend the colours” and give his all for Liverpool this season following his failed move to Barcelona.
The Brazilian was the subject of several bids from the Catalan giants in the summer transfer window but the Reds hierarchy stood strong an rejected all offers.
Barca’s final offer was reported to be worth up to £118million and Coutinho even handed in a transfer request to try and force a move to the Camp Nou.
However, Coutinho says he has now regained his composure after a whirlwind summer and is ready to help Liverpool this season.
“I’m calm. It’s all passed by,” said Coutinho.
“I’m here to defend the colours, to give my maximum.”
Coutinho scored the equalising goal in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Spartak Moscow in the Champions League on Tuesday, but he admits the team wanted more.
“It wasn’t really the result we wanted,” said Coutinho, “but we have to keep working and there are more games, another four games to come.”
