Crystal Palace are still interested in Brentford’s Said Benrahma, despite West Ham edging closer to completing a deal, according to reports.

The attacker joined Brentford in July 2018 for a fee of around £2.7m from Ligue 1 side Nice. The Algerian has enjoyed a couple of fantastic years in the Championship.

During his first season, he scored ten and provided 14 assists from his 38 league outings as Brentford finished 11th in the Championship.

He stepped up his game and enjoyed an even better season in 2019/20. From his 46 league outings, he scored 17 and assisted ten for his teammates as the Bees narrowly missed out on promotion.

Benrahma has grown into one of the leading players in the Championship. He has received a lot of interest from a number of Premier League clubs this summer.

The European window has now closed, but Premier League clubs can sign players from the EFL until October 16.

It appears like West Ham are currently the favourites to sign Benrahma. Earlier this week the Hammers submitted a £17m offer plus add-ons for the forward.

Brentford reportedly value Benrahma at around £25m, with a move away now looking ever more likely.

Despite West Ham looking to seal a deal for Benrahma, Sky Sports have reported that Crystal Palace are still interested in the attacker.

Roy Hodgson’s side will have to act quickly if they are going to beat West Ham to the signing. The Hammers are now in advanced talks for Benrahma after making a breakthrough with their bid this week.

Palace have made three signings so far this summer. Eberechi Eze made the move from Championship side QPR for around £16m.

While Michy Batshuayi has rejoined the club on loan from Chelsea, with Nathan Ferguson signing on a free transfer from West Brom.
