Rose set to see out Spurs contract after rejecting Turkey move
Spurs outcast Danny Rose looks set to see out his contract at the club after reportedly rejecting a move to Turkey.
On Friday, the left back was offered an escape from his North London nightmare by Trabzonspor.
They gave him the chance to join on a three and a half year deal.
Early loser: Spurs, somehow even worse than everyone expected
According to the Daily Mail, Rose has rejected that contract and will remain at Spurs until June.
He will then aim to join another Premier League club.
The defender will continue to train with the reserves until the summer.
He was left out of Jose Mourinho’s Premier League squad and is yet to make a first team appearance in any competition.
His troubles began last season, when teammate Ben Davies took his place in the squad.
Fellow left back Sergio Reguilon arrived in September for a £25 million fee, which only worsened Rose’s situation.
The 30-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with Newcastle United.
He made 11 league appearances but failed to impress the Magpies enough to gain a permanent move.
Rose’s last match for Spurs came in the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool back in January 2020.
West Brom have also been in the running for the player. Manager Sam Allardyce is keen to add recruitments as the Baggies prepare for an important run-in to the season.
But that move has failed to materialise, leaving Rose in limbo.
It looks like Rose will end his Spurs career on a significant low. He is the club’s current longest serving player, having joined in 2007 from Leeds United.
The England international has made 214 appearances in all competitions for Spurs, scoring ten goals.
Rose isn’t the only player that could be leaving the Tottenham Hotspur stadium in the coming months.
Dele Alli has fallen out of favour under Mourinho and has been linked with a PSG loan move.
It’s not yet clear whether the deal will get done before the transfer deadline later today.
