David Luiz is happy to make way from his preferred role in the Arsenal team to allow new signing Pablo Mari to slot in.
Mari was signed in the January transfer window on loan from Brazilian side Flamengo and the Spaniard is set to take Luiz’s place on the left-hand side of Arsenal’s central defence.
The new signing is left-footed and the expectation is that Luiz will move to the right-hand side to accommodate his Arsenal team-mate.
And Luiz “happy” to do this as long as he is playing somewhere in the team.
“I always want to play,” said Luiz. “I always play in the way the coach wants to play.
“It doesn’t matter the side, it doesn’t matter which position. You guys know I played a lot of positions during my career. I’m always ready for that.
“It’s good when you have a squad with a lot of quality players. We have a game every week, you have to be happy with this.”
Mari became the first Spaniard to win the Copa Libertadores in November and moves to the Emirates Stadium for the remainder of the 2019-20 season.
