Romano: ‘Talks ongoing’ between Bayern and PL club as boss admits he ‘wants to sell’ £40m star

Thomas Frank has admitted Brentford “want to sell” goalkeeper David Raya and Fabrizio Romano says Bayern Munich are interested.
Raya joined the Bees from Blackburn Rovers in July 2019 for a fee in the region of £3million.
He has made 161 appearances for the Londoners, keeping 54 clean sheets in the process.
Now worth €30million (£25.7million), as per Transfermarkt, Raya is expected to leave this summer.
The Spanish international has rejected several offers to extend his contract and is hoping to join a new club this summer, which suits Brentford, who do not want to lose the player for nothing when his current deal runs out in 2024.
Raya has been linked with Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United but his most likely destination now appears to be Bayern.
Spurs reportedly agreed personal terms with the 27-year-old, but they turned their attention to Guglielmo Vicario after deeming Brentford’s £40m valuation too high.

Meanwhile, United have signed Andre Onana and Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino apparently looking to go forward with Kepa Arrizabalaga as his No. 1.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Raya is now a “priority target” for Bayern, who are looking to sign a new goalkeeper to compete with Manuel Neuer.
Writing on Twitter (not X), the transfer expert said “talks are ongoing” with Yann Sommer “close” to signing for Inter.
“Despite talks with many goalkeepers, Bayern are now 100% focused on David Raya trying to find a way to make it happen with Brentford,” Romano added.
“Bayern want new goalkeeper by the end of next week as Yann Sommer is also waiting to join Inter.”
And Bees head coach Thomas Frank says Raya has remained “professional” during all of the rumours.
“He is a Brentford player so far as I know,” Frank told reporters. “It is an open secret we want to sell him for the right amount.
“He has been training hard, a good professional. He has been a top I can’t praise him enough. Incredibly good in terms of being a top pro, training well and really, really good and positive.
“I think it’s natural that he would like to leave if it’s a good opportunity for him. We all think it’s a good idea at the right price.
“That means probably means it is probably going towards that and we are focusing on the other keepers we have. It is a good dialogue and everything is in a fine place.”
