De Boer: Inter won’t sell Arsenal and Chelsea target Icardi

New Internazionale manager Frank de Boer says that Mauro Icardi will not be leaving the club.

Icardi has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Chelsea in recent days, with Gazetta dello Sport claiming that Arsenal could include Olivier Giroud as part of a bid.

However, De Boer insists that he will be able to keep his best players, and that Icardi will stay in Milan.

“We’ll keep every player we don’t want to sell,” De Boer said.

“Icardi is very important for me and he’ll stay.

“He’s young, he can learn a lot, but he’s already proven himself to be fantastic.

“We can work very well together, there won’t be any problems.”

De Boer also claimed that Inter can seriously challenge Juventus for the Serie A title, which is a pleasant joke:

“I thank Inter for choosing me. I spoke with the owners and everyone wants to bring the club where it deserves to be.

“Juventus are not unbeatable, sometimes things change. They have a great team and it will be tough, but we want to fight.

“We spoke to Inter two weeks ago simply to understand whether there might be any common ground.

“Everything happened quickly. I was honoured by their interest.”
