Frank de Boer had the chance to manage either Liverpool or Tottenham, according to his lawyer.
De Boer has long been linked with managerial posts in the Premier League, having carved out a successful career in his native Netherlands.
The 47-year-old won four straight Eredivisie titles with Ajax before leaving in 2016 and joining Inter Milan.
He lasted barely two months in Italy however, and is now struggling with lowly Crystal Palace.
His lawyer, Guido Albers, says that he had the opportunity to move to England sooner.
“I was called by top clubs in the Premier League, whether that was the Reds or Spurs, because he was successful at the time,” he told Voetbal International.
“Then a two-year period followed when he did not win any titles, and then you suddenly get a lot of other clubs, which makes it difficult.
“When is the right time for a manager to decide it’s the right time to go?”
Not this summer, apparently.
