De Jong strikes hammer blow to chances of Man Utd signing him this summer
Frenkie de Jong insists that he prefers to stay at Barcelona this summer than make a move to Man Utd or anywhere else.
The midfielder has been linked heavily with a move to Old Trafford following the arrival of new Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag, who De Jong used to play under at Ajax.
A report in April insisted that Ten Hag wanted to make De Jong the ‘cornerstone’ of his revolution at Man Utd and it was claimed earlier today that the Red Devils will ‘gladly pay’ Barcelona’s £64m asking price.

But it now seems that De Jong has no intention of leaving Barcelona this summer with the Netherlands international declaring the Catalan giants as the club of his “dreams”.
“I used to be reckless when I was asked about other clubs, that time has passed,” De Jong said on Netherlands national team duty.
On whether he had been approached, De Jong replied: “I can’t say anything about that but I prefer to stay at Barcelona.
“I have already said it before, Barcelona are the club of my dreams since I was little. If other clubs call I will take the call, of course. It is something that is always done.”

De Jong admits he is aware of the links to Man Utd, he added: “Of course I get that, too/
“But I have not heard anything from the club’s management, so I assume that nothing is concrete, or that an agreement has already been reached. Then there’s no point in worrying about it.”
De Jong insists “anyone can” make up the speculation surrounding a potential move to Man Utd because of his past links to Ten Hag.
The Barcelona midfielder added: “That is a logical link, given my past with Erik ten Hag,” said De Jong. “But that’s what it is… the link is logical, anyone can make it.”
On whether he had spoken to Ten Hag or Man Utd over a potential move, De Jong responded: “I can’t say anything more about that. I wouldn’t do that when it comes to other clubs or coaches.”
