Henderson ‘wary’ with Man Utd boss ‘ready to sign off’ another loan
Dean Henderson is unsure whether to sign a new long-term deal at Man Utd with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer not prepared to offer him the number one spot at Old Trafford, according to reports.
Henderson has been in fine form on loan at Sheffield United from Man Utd this season and has been touted as replacing David de Gea on his return to his parent club.
The 23-year-old has kept an impressive 11 clean sheets for the Blades this season, and was expected to be named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the friendlies against Italy and Denmark before those games were postponed.
OPINION: Man Utd and Solskjaer have eight games to avoid disaster
Solskjaer has himself admitted in recent weeks that it is only a matter of time before Henderson becomes Man Utd and England number one but that is unlikely to be next season.
The Daily Mirror claims that the Man Utd boss is ‘ready to sign off’ another year-long loan deal at Sheffield United, with Solskjaer telling Henderson ‘he is not yet ready to dislodge David de Gea as Manchester United’s No.1 goalkeeper’.
Henderson is ‘determined to become the No.1 at Old Trafford’ but is becoming ‘wary of signing another long-term deal’ at Man Utd with the goalkeeper attracting a lot of interest.
Solskjaer recently said: “We need to make sure Dean plays football to develop, so we’re going to make a decision later on.
“He’s had two fantastic years and we appreciate what Sheffield United have done with him as well. So that’s an option, for him to stay at Sheffield United.
“I think Dean has had a fantastic couple of years at Sheffield United and I think eventually he will end up as England’s No.1 and Man Utd’s No.1.
“But he’s got the best goalkeeper in the world to tip off his place and for me David is still developing and still getting better and better.”
