Dembele sort of hints at possible Spurs stay

Mousa Dembele has suggested he could yet remain at Tottenham beyond this summer.

The Belgium star has one year left on his contract at Spurs and, with agreement on a new one appearing unlikely over Spurs’ reluctance to offer anything more than a two-year extension to the 30-year-old, a departure now looked to be on the cards.

Inter Milan have been strongly linked with the midfielder, while there was talk of a £30m bid from China that would certainly have Daniel Levy interested.

In quotes from Het Laatste Nieuws, though, Dembele has confirmed only that if he leaves Spurs it will not be for another English club.

“I won’t say that I’m leaving Spurs right now,” Dembele said. “Or that I’m staying. If I leave, I won’t join another English club. Tottenham is my team.”

Dembele has also hinted that the World Cup could be his last international tournament as he considers his future with Belgium.
