Dickov rescues point against U’s

The Scot levelled in the 66th minute when Matt Oakley scooped back in a half-cleared corner which Colchester goalkeeper Marc Cousins had only parried to allow Dickov to show quick feet and fire home from 10 yards.
Colchester had taken a 23rd-minute lead when Mark Yeates curled a right-footed free-kick from 22 yards over the City wall and into the far corner of Tony Warner’s goal.
Warner then kept City level with two tremendous saves, first when he blocked a Clive Platt header at point-blank range and then when he stood his ground to beat away a shot from Yeates after the Colchester wideman had out-stripped the City rearguard.
Foxes substitute Lloyd Dyer squandered a good chance to win it for City three minutes from the end when he latched on to a Matty Fryatt pass only to see his shot kept out by a brave save from Cousins.
