We already knew that Diego Costa quite fancied a move back to Atletico Madrid, but reports suggest he is prepared to dig his heels in to get that move.
With Atletico subject to a ban on registering players and Costa unwanted by Antonio Conte, it was thought that the striker might have to choose an alternative destination.
That led to both Milan and Juventus being mentioned as possible suitors for Costa, although Juventus are in the process of signing Patrick Schick.
However, according to the Daily Star’s chief football writer David Woods, Costa is prepared to stand his ground at Chelsea, and will refuse to leave the club.
That would mean Costa being frozen out of Chelsea life for the next six months, then joining Atletico in January when their ban ends.
Costa had been linked with a move to China both last January and this summer, but as told last month by text message that he was no longer wanted by Conte. Costa made the decision to make this message public.
