Jamie Carragher has shared some of the texts he received from Gary Neville in a Liverpool title panic.
Liverpool finished a point behind Manchester City as Premier League runners-up after a frantic final day.
The Reds seemed to have a chance when Manchester City went two goals down at home to Aston Villa, which opened the door for Klopp’s side to win against Wolves and snatch the championship away.
By half-time, Liverpool had recovered from the concession of an early goal to draw level at Anfield, while Matty Cash had put Villa in front against Manchester City. Those results would have seen City win the title on goal difference.
But when Villa doubled their lead through Philippe Coutinho in the 69th minute as Liverpool pushed for a breakthrough against Wolves, the tide seemed to have turned.
Manchester City subsequently scored three times in six ludicrous second-half minutes to render Liverpool’s own late goals moot, but not before Neville messaged Carragher in horror.
Carragher revealed those texts after Neville stated that he considers Real Madrid to be favourites over Liverpool in the upcoming Champions League final.
“He’s trying to… this has been going on all season, let me tell you this,” Carragher told The Overlap Live. “Liverpool played Chelsea in the second game of the season, he’s texting me right after the game, ‘Liverpool aren’t right, they’re not right, they’re not the same, they’re not the same.’
“He tries to convince himself. I tell you what we’ll do, we’ll get our texts out from half-time.”
Not to be derailed, Neville tried to continue his point: “There’s a bit of science behind my thought on Saturday…”
While rifling through his phone, Carragher responded: “He’s trying to kid himself…”
Neville then attempted to explain his opinion on Real Madrid, before Carragher interjected to say: “No, no, we’re going through the texts.”
Reading them out to the room, the Liverpool legend recited Neville’s messages:
‘Sh*te City. You do your job, you’ll win this.’
‘It’s a f**king disaster of monstrous proportions.’
‘I’m f**king off if you win this.’
It would have been a disaster of monstrous proportions 😂
Cheers @Carra23 for sharing my texts to you 😂

“At half-time I just thought, ‘Do you know something? They’re gonna do it. They’re gonna do it’. And I just thought, ‘This is a disaster of monstrous proportions’,” Neville said.
“I couldn’t get my head around it, and at 2-0 I thought, ‘Oh my god’. And you’re having to speak on the game, and the game itself, it was just unbelievable.”
